Phyra

A pricing platform that helps creative freelancers price their work fairly using community-sourced data, instead of guessing or asking a friend.

UX/UI

The task

Freelancers — especially in creative fields — consistently struggle to price their work, with 67.5% reporting doubts and most relying on a friend's guess instead of real data. Phyra needed to turn that uncertainty into a trustworthy, community-driven answer.

The outcome

Phyra reframed freelance pricing as a shared, community-solved problem instead of an individual guessing game — validated through real user research and a working prototype covering budgeting, invoicing and tax tracking.

What I did

  • Led UX research: user interviews, a persona (Alejandro Fresco) and a customer journey mapping the anxiety freelancers feel from proposal to payment.
  • Ran a competitive benchmark against Glassdoor, Upwork, Fiverr and freelancer Facebook groups, identifying a gap: no tool combined trustworthy pricing data with community instead of competition.
  • Defined the MVP scope — pricing search, project uploads, professional profiles and community averages — from research insight to prioritized feature list.
  • Designed the brand identity (name, meaning, color palette, typography) and the full UI, then built an interactive prototype.

Home: pricing search as the first thing you see, with community-sourced averages surfaced below.
